Reflect, Writing: Take a look at your drafting process from day one to the end. How did you go from one to the next? What guided you? What challenges did you encounter? (200-250 words) At the beginning of the process I started with an idea that I had for a poem and I tried to get it on paper, day one was a very rough draft of the ideal. Day two rolled around and I couldn’t figure out how to change it to better show the image I was trying to portray so I focused more on grammar and structure of the poem. On day three I decided that I no longer liked that poem because I couldn’t clearly get my idea across so I changed it up a little bit. From day four on, there were small changes to the new poem like grammar and structure. Reflect, Bookmaking: What lead you to decorate the book the way you did? How did the content influence your creation in another genre? What are your hopes for the synergy. (200-250 words) The front cover of the book is a face portrayed as a melting candle. I think that represents my poem because it is about how time is running out and theres different paths of life you can choose to go on during the time you are alive. The inspiration for the drawing came from the candle being life because once the candle runs out, you are out of time. The light from the candle can also be seen as ones inner light and inspiration. The back cover of my book is a cross roads with two options you can go on representing the two paths of life I talked about in my poem. I decided to keep the inside of my book empty because I wanted to keep it simple and focus it on the message that is being portrayed.
Running Out of Time
Tik tok tik tok
Time is running out
Which will I choose?
The path of uncertainty
Do I trust in fate
Where I have no control?
Or stay on my current path
Where I live in fear
Wondering “what if”?
Tik tok tik tok
Which will I choose?
