Collaboration In Nursing (A)

I chose this picture of a puzzle piece to reflect collaboration for a few reasons. The main reason I chose a puzzle piece is because of what collaboration means. Collaboration is when people work together with a goal in mind. This is very similar to a puzzle piece because each piece fits together or “works together” to create an overall image. If one piece is missing, the image is not complete. This represents collaboration because it needs everyone to be apart of it and do their job with the main goal in mind. If someone is not doing their job, the goal will not be accomplished. This relates back to nursing because the image the puzzle makes is the patient and their needs, each individual piece is the different professionals working to treat the patient. Without collaboration between professionals, the patient will not receive the best possible care. It is important that there is collaboration between professionals to make sure there is strong communication and trust between each other so that the patient’s goals are met and the patient receives the best possible care.

  • Hi Lindsey!
I really enjoyed reading through your post. I like how you incorporated and related collaboration to a puzzle game. I like how to said each puzzle piece represents a member of a health care team and the full picture of the puzzle is the potential of the client’s health. When you explain it like that it makes a lot of sense why you chose this image. I differently chose a painting created by multiple different artists with an image of the world at the center. I can similarly relate the world representing the patient and the different artists as health care members working together to provide the best care for the patient they have.
    Great job!

  • Hi Lindsey,
I chose a picture similar to the one you did for my collaboration in nursing post! I think that our thought process about how collaboration is similar to a puzzle in the way that a puzzle cannot be complete unless every piece is connected, is very similar. I like that you referred to the patient as the image because I think that really puts the idea that health care professionals are working together for a great cause into perspective. The puzzle is not about us, it is about us finding where we fit in to a patients care plan(or puzzle) in order to best complete achieving the best output. Great job!

    • Hi Molly,
I agree in that I think our thought process is similar. I think the puzzle piece is a great way to show how each person on the Patients team comes together as a whole to care for the patient.

  • Hi Lindsey! I love the image that you chose and how you described the picture not being complete until all the pieces are in place. I love that comparison because humans are so complicated as a whole with all the functional symptoms in the body that many healthcare professionals are often pulled together when caring for one patient. All these professionals have to do their job to allow the patient to receive the best care. Healthcare professionals often hold meetings together and discuss the patient’s care from each perspective and it helps create the best care plan for the patient! Incredible job!

  • Hi Lindsey! I really like the picture you chose because of the fact that one piece is stopping the image from being complete. In healthcare there can be so many different people that are affecting a person’s care. Everyone from the highest educating physician to the entry level custodian all have a critical role to play in the healthcare setting. If one of the people within the spectrum of care do not do their job effectively, the patient’s care may be in jeopardy. You did a really great job!!
