For my experiential learning this semester I decided to participate in Partners for World Health. I volunteered there for a total of 10 hours, the first shift I completed was on September 25, 2021 from 9am-12pm, 1pm- 4pm, and the second shift I completed was on November 4, 2021 from 9am-12pm. During the first shift I completed I did a variety of activities. I sorted medical supplies, repackaged johnnies into boxes to get shipped out, and organized and sorted plastic bags. During my second shift there I was focused on one assignment which was to organize and sort syringes based on expiration date and package them so they were ready to be shipped out to somewhere that needed them. The priority focus for these activities is to organize medical supplies and get them ready to be distributed to whoever needs them whether it be a hospital in another country, a local hospital, or anything in between. Two social determinants of health for this event are Economic stability, and Health care access and quality. I would advocate for these clients experiencing health disparities by providing education on the disparity and how we can change it. Partners for World Health helps to provide individuals and organizations with medical supplies who do not have access to it. They are helping the disparity by providing resources and equipment needed for individuals to get safe healthcare that is quality service as well. Partners for World Health is a great example of interprofessional Communication because they gather supplies from multiple locations and organize, sort and distribute them across the world. Without interprofessional communication, there would be no supplies, and there would be no where to ship the supplies to. Through communication they are able to smoothly run their business and provide organizations with the supplies they need.
