I used my individual performance profiles on each ATI assessment to improve my outcomes. I looked at how long my average question time was and tried to increase the amount of time I took on each question to around 1 minute so that I could read the question and all answer choices at least 2 times before answering. I also looked at where most of my errors were occurring which in my case was towards the end. To improve this, I started breaking the ATI assessments into two chunks so I could take a break and refresh my brain before continuing it to try and not have clumps of wrong answers. I used the various ATI assessments such as the remediations and content resources to decrease my content gaps. I noticed that the amount of remediations for safety and a few other categories decreased in size throughout the semester which means my content gap decreased and I gained more knowledge. At the beginning of the semester I had a really good work/life balance. As the semester progressed, life happened, and I struggled to maintain a good balance. I am still trying to reincorporate self care strategies back into my daily routine to get a better work/life balance which in turn helps my time management and overall mental clarity. I will use what I have learned this semester to continue preparing for licensure by continuously doing practice tests and questions. I have come a long way since the beginning of the semester in my ability to make it through assessments without getting a “mental fog”. By continuing to do practice tests, I hope to continue to get better with taking long assessments and hope to continue learning how to read the questions and answer what they are asking without adding any information or reading too far into the question. I feel as though I grew a lot as a student this semester and look forward to continuing to grow while preparing for my licensure and transitioning into practice.
