Before college, I had done peer reviewing in classes before but we never really went in depth about what we were supposed to write or how to critique anyones writing. I used to only give positive feedback because I didn’t want to hurt any ones feelings or make them feel bad. I then realized I was there to help them and improve their writing so I started giving broad critiques and they could either take it or leave it.
Throughout this class, we went in depth about how to peer review on the surface level and global level. I learned to focus on the main idea, how they integrate sources, their use of evidence, and much more. I had to continue to remind myself that I was there to help them improve so I could critique them and give them suggestions. I think I greatly improved my peer reviewing skills throughout this course.
