My team and I chose to do our project on sleep deprivation and promoting sleep for patients. We made a poster with a simple background on why it is important for patients to receive adequate sleep and interventions that can be made to help promote sleep. Our team worked very well together. We talked as a team first to come up with a plan and how we wanted to carry out this project. From there we took it one part at a time completing the assignments as a team by breaking it down into parts and giving each person a part of the assignment. We would hold each other accountable by communicating if a part has not been done by the agreed time. Our group did not face any conflicts. We avoided them by communicating our needs and if we needed help. I discovered that I work well with others. I am more motivated to complete assignments in a timely manner and faster than I would if I was working on my own because I do not want to disappoint the rest of my team. Throughout this project I learned a lot about sleep deprivation and how it affects the patients. Before this project and learning about Delirium, I never really thought about sleep being a priority factor during a patient’s stay at the hospital. This opened my eyes to the importance of sleep and making sure the patient gets adequate sleep to prevent complications. This project let me dive deeper into exploring how to help them get the most sleep they can while still providing adequate medical care. The interventions we chose are simple changes that can be made to help the patient feel more comfortable and provide relaxation to enhance sleep. I will use this in the future because if I work night shifts, it is important to provide interventions to help patients get sleep and cluster my care in order to disrupt their sleep as little as possible. The floor was very responsive with the poster we made. They loved the feasibility of improvement and how easily the changes can be made. The feedback received also  commented on the accessibility of materials such as fans, aromatherapy, and the cost to increase availability of those materials. Overall, the floor’s response was very positive and they are looking forward to implementing the changes and new practices.
